2023 goals check

2023 goals check

It’s time to check my 2023 goals. This year was particularly challenging but I am super satisfied with the result because I achieved most of the goals, especially the more complicated ones.

1. Move out on my own

Done. I’m happy about how I achieved this goal because I wait for the right moment without rushing to find a solution that, probably, would not have been the right one from an economic or practical standpoint. It’s a great adventure, completely changing the way of living. There’s definitely more work, but the satisfaction and freedom it gives you is immense. I had set this goal for myself because I wanted to try living alone for a while before starting a life totally together with one person (even from a housing standpoint).

2. Increase Income

Done. I increased my total income by about 12% from 2022 to 2023. I’m happy about how I did it because I actually significantly reduced two large sources of extra income that were taking away my time on weekends, yet my income increased thanks to the good performance of my main job.

3. Have an emergency fund of at least 3K

Failed, partially. The fund is at 1.6K, halfway there but it’s okay for two reasons: I have many possibilities for quick divestment and 1.6K should cover normal expenses for quite some time. However, I still want to reach 3K because a major unforeseen event with the car or an appliance could always happen, and it would be nice to face it without making divestments.

4. Balance the portfolio

Done, partially, even if only towards the end of the year. I’m overexposing myself to crypto because I’m quite convinced that the next two years could be satisfactory. The good thing is that I have stopped buying shitcoins and those that I already had are in staking and are slowly recovering, the big losses from last year.

5. Avoid unnecessary technology expenses

Done, I also sold the iPad Pro which I think was my most useless purchase in recent years. It’s really a poor product in terms of actual productivity, after the initial wow effect fades away.

6. Get back in shape

Partially failed but am on the right track. The first part of the year I did little training but started to take better care of my nutrition losing 4kg and getting back to around 75kg (my goal is 72kg). When I was fit and trained often I had a physique I really liked and weighed around 73kg. During the mid-year i lt took up so much of my time and I stopped training. In the last 2 months, however, I have been steadily picking up again and feel that now, finally, the path is the right one.
